Pet Connection Program
The Pet Connection Program started with Meals on Wheels in
February of 2002. Bags of pet food, cat litter and treats were
sent to Meals on Wheels twice a month for their volunteers and
staff to deliver to the seniors they served hot meals to. In 2003
Meals on Wheels stopped their deliveries of pet food so PAL
picked up the routes and brought in our own volunteers. Since
then our program has grown to helping over 125 seniors care for
208 cats and 185 dogs.

PAL is in our fourth year of being a United Way Agency and the
money we receive each month goes towards our spay/neuter fund
for low-income people under 65 years of age. In September of
2004, we received a $15,000 grant from the Herdina Family to
help with spay/neuter, medical care, vaccinations, and vet visits
for the pets of seniors 65 years and over. We are proud to
announce that we have received this grant again and will continue
to receive it each year. This will be our fourth year receiving this
grant and are more excited than ever. The Herdina Family
doubled the amount of the grant and we will be receiving
$30,000 for the year 2008!

Each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday PAL picks up damaged human
products and dog and cat food from all three Target stores (2 in
Apple Valley and 1 in Victorville). These products are distributed
to the indigent seniors on our pet food routes and what is
remaining goes to United Way to be distributed to other agencies.

Other organizations that help with this program are PetsMart
and Petco. We have also recently received help from Nutro.
There are also many individuals that donate food and supplies to
this program. A very special thank you to all who have contributed.

We are currently looking for drivers to deliver pet food to
seniors in Victorville. If interested, please contact
AutumnRose.
ON-GOING PET FOOD DRIVE
Please help us feed over 300 local pets
that belong to the seniors in our
community. Once a month our wonderful
volunteers deliver pet food and supplies
free of charge to seniors in our area.
Most of these seniors wouldn’t be able
to keep their pets if it weren't
for this assistance.
With your help we can continue this
great program.
At this time we
especially need canned food.
Any and
all help is appreciated by us at PAL and
the seniors whose animals we feed.
Food can be dropped off at 20601 Hwy.
18 #156, Apple Valley. If you have any
questions please contact AutumnRose at
(760) 240-6848 x 232 or by
email.
If you are 55 or older and are
on a fixed income,  contact PAL
Humane Society to find out
how we can help you with your
pet's medical care and food.
